Objectives
1. To establish whakawhanaungatanga, awhi, tautoko and manaakitanga for all and between all primary school child participants in all aspects of whakangahau. 2. To empower Māori and Pacific youth and the wider community of the South Waikato to realise their full potential through developing, instilling and celebrating a sense of cultural pride as a platform to build confidence, leadership and achievement in youth. 3. To support, encourage and foster Māori and Pacific youth and the wider community of the South Waikato in their journey in acquiring cultural tāonga. 4. To contribute to the intergenerational transfer of cultural traditional knowledge. 5. To build relationships between SWCFC and others, which will be effective, efficient, and consistent with the objectives and aims of SWCFC in keeping with the intent and spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi articles. 6. To develop and facilitate sustainable events and activities that will benefit the SWCFC and the wider South Waikato community, academically, socially and culturally. 7. To develop a pool of skills and knowledge that will contribute to the growth and assertion of culturally sound practice. |
Aims
1. To establish, support and encourage a sustainable annual festival that showcases and celebrates the achievements of the South Waikato child participants. 2. To ensure that the SWCFC festival allows child participants to perform, participate and experience all cultural festival aspects in a safe, secure and non threatening environment. 3. To ensure the SWCFC festival is facilitated in a culturally appropriate manner according to tangata whenua of Ngāti Raukawa. |
